What is an attribution no derivatives license?

Within the context of the Creative Commons, an attribution no derivatives license is one of the six main types of creative commons licenses. As explained by the Creative Commons: “This license allows for redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as it is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to you.” Thus, this license expands upon the attribution non-commercial no derivatives license - while folks can still only use or share an author’s work with proper attribution, and still can’t create derivative works, they can use or share the original work for a non-commercial or commercial purpose.
